The Church Development Agency has taken the five core values which the Coming Home report used to describe good housing and turned them into a set of practical guidelines for architects, builders and developers.

Good housing should be safe, stable, sociable, sustainable and satisfying, and it is hoped that all Church housing projects will make use of these guidelines in designing, planning and constructing homes on Church land.

In her Foreword, the lead Bishop for Housing, Guli Francis-Dehqani, writes,

”These Five S Guidance Notes translate that vision into practical action for those developing housing on church and partner land. They acknowledge real tensions: competing demands sometimes contradict, financial constraints always matter, and perfect solutions rarely exist. Yet they also offer hope that by aligning our projects with these values, we can create not just housing units but places where people truly come home – where they can put down roots, form supportive relationships, care for the environment, and delight in where they live.”
