‘Gathering momentum’ event: Five years of action on housing and community

Join us for the next Church Housing online event on Thursday 10th September from 6.00pm to 7.30pm.

Celebrating the opening of Church Housing Association’s first seven homes!

We’ll provide an overview of all that’s happened since the Archbishops’ Commission on Housing, Church and Community published the Coming Home report, which challenged the Church of England to make responding to the housing crisis an integral part of its mission.  

Chaired by Bishop Guli Francis-Dehqani, the lead bishop for housing, the event will be in three parts:

Part 1 – What have we achieved? 

A summary from each of the main entities that make up the Church Housing 'ecosystem':

• Archbishops Council Housing Project

• Church Housing Association

• Church Development Agency

• Office of Bishop for Housing/Church Housing Foundation

Part 2 – What does a local church housing project look like?

Listen to an in-depth account by someone involved with leading an ongoing or completed project. Choose a breakout room to explore one of these scenarios:

• five affordable homes and a new church building in Radlett

• one floor of a church being converted into supported housing in East London

• planning permission obtained for eco-homes in a Worcester vicarage garden 

• a tough journey through planning for a block of flats in front of a church in Walthamstow

• planning applied for to build 17 social homes on a former vicarage garden and neighbouring plot in Birmingham (tbc)

Part 3 – Where do we hope to be five years from now?
