The Archbishops Commission for Housing, Church and Community wanted to propose a set of core values that were theologically grounded, so that embodying them would reflect a truly Christian vision for housing and community.

The Coming Home report develops the values from five themes, or moments, which are central to the story line of the whole Bible: Creation – Fall – Redemption – Community – and Resurrection. These in turn correspond to the housing values of Sustainable – Safe – Stable – Sociable – and Satisfying.

The lead Bishop for Housing, Rt Revd Dr Guli Francis-Dehqani, unpacked the theological themes at an event organised by Thrive Together Birmingham in October 2025. Her talk included the material in this document.
